Asian Art

Mildred and Robert Bliss became interested in Asian art in the earlier twentieth century, especially during the time they lived in Paris (1912–1919). They later sold much of their considerable collection of Asian paintings, sculptures, and furnishings to increase the endowment of the Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection. Nevertheless, several interesting pieces remain in the House Collection.
