Description
The fine pierced openwork of this round pendant has a geometric design of a square, on point, intersecting four lobes, and enclosing a second square. Within a central roundel formed by a raised border is an oak leaf. Suspended from rings along the lower edge are four pendant chains that were originally strung with pearls, now lost. The rings are attached by flattening the wires on the back. At the top, an elongated wire loop is flattened to the back on one side and forms a ring that fits over a short hook at the other end. The outer border of the pendant is a series of teardrop-shaped voids alternating with ridged triangles. The area below the loop is depressed and smooth.
