Rev. George Benton (d.1862), Episcopal missionary in Greece, who brought the manuscript in 1844 from Canea, Crete, to America;

Thence to his son Angelo Ames Benton (1836-1912) in 1862, and subsequently to;

His grandchildren William Lane Hall Benton and Elizabeth Ames Benton, who presented it to;

the General Theological Seminary, New York, in 1913;

their sale at Christie’s, October 1, 1980, Lot 137
