The bronze ewer is decorated in low relief and inlaid with silver. On the front is a child with a halo, flanked by confronted sphinxes. The sphinxes are repeated at the back where originally there was a handle. Below is a frieze of birds and flowers, and on the shoulder a frieze of lions. Around the neck are two storks, holding snakes in their beaks, flanking an eagle with a wreath, sitting on a capital. The subjects represented on the jug may have a funerary significance.
