Description

Hartmann Schedel (1440–1514) was a German historian and geographer who published the Liber Chronicarum (also known as the Nuremberg Chronicle) in 1493 using woodcuts from the Nuremberg atelier of Michael Wolgemut. One of the earliest works of urban topography, the Nuremberg Chronicle included a large number of highly detailed woodcuts illustrating the cities of the world. Constantinople features the church of Hagia Sophia prominently in the foreground.
