Jacobello del Fiore
Italian Early Renaissance Venetian School painter
Italian,
(ca. 1380–1439)
Jacobello del Fiore was born in Venice ca. 1370, the son of Francesco del Fiore, president of the guild of painters in Venice (1415-1436). Jacobello early came under the influence of the Byzantine-influenced Venetian style of the 14th century. However, after he became acquainted with Gentile da Fabriano, who had come to Venice in 1414-1415 to decorate the Great Council Chamber of the Doges Palace, he adopted the master's more courtly International Gothic style. Jacobello is documented as working in Venice between 1400 and 1439, the year of his death.
